Access for Children and Young Adults to All Library Material

The Richards Memorial Library has a wide variety of materials available to our patrons. These materials include, but are not limited to: print materials (books, magazines, newspapers, etc.), books on CD, music CDs, videos and downloadable content. The library staff does not censor, screen, or monitor patron usage of any library materials or services. Children and young adults have the same right to access these materials as adults. Likewise, the Internet is available to children and young adults with the same rights as adults. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the parents and/or guardians to supervise their children and young adults at the Library and to be aware of what materials they are borrowing and what they are viewing on the computers. This policy is in accordance with the American Library Association Library Bill of Rights.
