This telescope was donated to the library by John C. Root in memory of his wife, Susan E. Root, and is maintained by Aldrich Astronomical Society, Inc. as part of their Adopt a Library Program.

The Richards Memorial Library welcomes and appreciates volunteers ages 18 and older from the community whose contributions expand and enhance the public service goals of the library.
The library accepts the service of volunteers with the understanding that such service is at the sole discretion of the library.
Volunteers are selected based upon their qualifications in relation to the needs of the library at any given time.
